Meet the Founder
Hello! My name is Haley McMahon, and I’m the founder of Master Math Tutoring.
What began as a sixth-grade business class project has grown into a true passion: combining my love of math with my desire to help students succeed.
I attended Prince of Peace Catholic School for eleven years, where I served as a school ambassador, participated in the QUEST program, competed in PSIA and St. Pat’s math competitions, and was part of the advanced math program.
I am now a rising senior at The Hockaday School, where I am enrolled in the Honors Math program and will take AP Calculus BC in the fall. I am also involved in Hockaday's Math Tutoring Program, and I have been honored with the SIGMA Mathematics Award.
Through Master Math Tutoring, I provide one-on-one support designed to strengthen students’ math skills and build their confidence. I believe peer tutoring is especially effective because it creates a comfortable, encouraging environment where students feel more confident asking questions, making mistakes, and growing. With the right support, every student can succeed in math—and even learn to enjoy it.

Tutoring Sessions
In-School Tutoring Session
(Online or In-Person)

Students begin with a warm-up to review basic math skills, then revisit class concepts to deepen understanding. Challenging problems are practiced to help students apply what they’ve learned, regardless of skill level.
Finally, homework is completed or started to provide extra support.

Summer Session
(In-Person)

Our summer session is designed to prevent the “summer slide” by reinforcing key skills from the previous math level while introducing important concepts from the upcoming year. To ensure students are well-prepared, our team has created a customized packet that focuses on the foundational skills they’ll need to succeed. During these sessions, students will review essential topics, practice targeted exercises, and build confidence before the new school year begins.
Each session is divided between working on our tailored packet and dedicating time to complete summer homework or assignments.

Offered Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with some weekend slots available.

Our expectations were far exceeded this summer! Our daughter was EXCITED to go to her tutoring sessions with Haley! You would anticipate that when you tell an 11 yr old that they have to go spend an hour at the library in the summer doing extra math practice they would complain, but we had the exact opposite experience! Somehow Haley managed to make the sessions something that our daughter looked forward to which we greatly appreciated.
In addition to teaching math, Haley was an incredible role model for our daughter. She clearly worked hard to be prepared for the sessions, was thoughtful, articulate and motivated. Being just a few years older, it helped our daughter to see what she could aspire to. We were not expecting this at all when we signed up for tutoring but we’re very impressed with it!

I was very impressed with Haley!!!! The email she sent out at the beginning of the summer was so professional! She offered feedback after each lesson and went above and beyond to be sure our daughter understood her work, as well as sent home things for her to work on. This included which IXL's she recommend, based on things she saw as more of a challenge for our daughter. At the end of the summer, she completed an evaluation for my daughter to give to her teacher, explaining her work ethic and skills they worked. Haley is an amazing young lady, and I am looking forward to having my daughter work with her this school year.
Tutoring Session FAQs:
1. How long is each session and how do you conduct payments?
Each session is 60 minutes and costs $35. We take payments through Venmo, Zelle, or with cash, whichever is easiest.

2. What does my child need to bring to be successful at each session?
Please send your child with a pencil. We will always have the lessons, worksheets, or homework they will need. Your child may also bring a snack and waterbottle. During summer sessions, we always leave the last 20 minutes to review the tutoring session and go over summer homework.

3. Where do these tutoring sessions occur?
Summer sessions are held at the Plano Parr Library in private study rooms. During the school year, we work at Parr and local Starbucks.

4. What do you focus on when tutoring?
We tutor lots of students with different needs. We help students review basic foundational skills and go over topics again to feel confident and prepared. On the other hand, some students are more advanced for their level and are looking for more of a "performance tutoring" to learn higher level math and complete challenging practice problems. Every parent has different goals that they discuss with us when signing their child up for Master Math Tutoring. Our goal at Master Math is to always build our students' self-confidence, foster a love of mathematics, and make sure they feel prepared before going back into the classroom!
5. What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that schedules frequently change. With that being said, due to limited avaliability and each tutors' schedule, we ask that you cancel no less than 12 hours before each session to avoid a cancellation fee. We will only waive the fee under special circumstances, like health problems.
